Costa Rican culture actually barrows heavily from the Spanish culture. Spanish is the official language in Costa Rica. However you will find many other languages being spoken due to heavy foreign immigration in the past 20 years. Costa Ricans are actually quite highly educated and friendly people. Costa Rica in general holds education on a very high standard. There are schools where a large majority are speaking English and eventually attend college in Costa Rica. There are several universities in Costa Rica where students come out with the same degrees as American colleges. Universidad de Costa Rica, Universidad Nacional and Universidad Latina de Costa Rica are some of the bigger colleges around Costa Rica.
Costa Rica includes a wide range of religions, with the majority of the population being Catholic. Other religions include Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Rastafarianism, Scientology and Jehovah's Witnesses. There are many historical sites though out Costa Rica that gives a history of this great country. Local holidays will usually be based around historical sites or city centers. Celebrations included food, drinks and lots of dancing. Costa Ricans pride them self's on local dance, and would dance any chance they get. You will usually see "rumbas" or dance clubs full on the weekends.
