Is there a car rental deposit for driving tours?
Yes. The deposit is $750.00 on a major credit card. We authorize your card for this amount at the very start of your rental. We return this amount back to your card when the rental is returned safely.
Why is having GPS mandatory, and is it always included?
For our driving packages we require you to have GPS in your rental car just for your safety. You will be given detailed, easy to follow directions, the GPS will ensure that you are following those directions carefully and exactly. GPS will cost only $5 per day and $35 for the duration of most of our packages. In some cases GPS is not included in the original price and will be added to the cost of our aready low priced packages.
What happens if the rental car experiences mechanical difficulties?
In the unlikely event your rental car experiences mechanical issues, simple contacts us with the supplied cell phone. We will either send you a replacement vehicle or have a mechanic resolve the issue on the spot. Our main goal is to get you back on the road as soon as possible. Our cars are in top shape and really do not run into this issue.
How is it driving in Costa Rica?
Driving through the country of Costa Rica is really the only way to truly experience the diverse natural beauty. Our safe, reliable vehicles give the traveler the freedom to deeply explore at any pace. The biggest concern if any is that you do not drive during the night. Because there are no street lights and signs are hard to see, we strongly suggest that you depart after breakfast to your next destination. Most of the roads in Costa Rica are in good shape, however some have potholes and others are dirt roads. Driving in Costa Rica is for the adventurous but also gives you the opportunity to really explore and meet your environment. Does every package include a cell phone?
Every package and/or rented vehicle is supplied with a cell phone for assistance. We offer this service as a means for you to communicate with one of our representatives at the touch of a button. Once in Costa Rica our contact numbers are (866) 364-8079 (USA & Canada Toll Free) or Costa Rica direct at +(506) 2432-5270. However, your cell phone will be pre programmed with contact numbers so that help is just a phone call away.
Is Airfare included?
No, Costa Rica Vacations and our partners do not supply airfare.
How do I proceed with booking a package?
Just proceed to the Enquire Now page and send us your details. You will not be billed at this time until a travel planner has worked with you. Once your package is tailored just how you would like, we will send you details and a credit card authorization form.
What happens on arrival in Costa Rica?
Once passing though immigration and baggage claim, a Costa Rica Vacations representative will be at the airport exit holding a sign that reads "Welcome to Costa Rica YOUR NAME". You will then be transported to your first nights hotel in San Jose. In the morning our representatives will meet you again to deliver your car, give a 20 minute talk through, a travel package, and have you sign your deposit papers.
