Costa Rican Food

Food in Costa Rica is generally a good price if you know how to shop around. If you are vacationing chances are you will spend a bit more eating out rather than buying at the market. Either way the typical dish you will find is any dish made with black beans and white rice. Locals will eat this dish for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast will usually consist of orange juice scrambled eggs, black beach, white rice and Pico de Gallo. While lunch and dinner will have a fresh fish, chicken or steak also served with rice and beans.

Fried plantains are almost always served with lunch and dinner. Fish will usually consist of fresh Dorado, Red Snapper and Sea Bass. There is also a plethora of fresh fruit all over Costa Rica. Passion fruits, Mangos and Papaya are offered all over Costa Rica in drink form or freshly sliced. Costa Rican coffee is also very common to enjoy at all times of the day. At lunch it is very common to find all business professionals in San Jose at a Café having espresso or some form of coffee. Whether you living in or moving to Costa Rica you will save more money by going to local produce markets set up on Saturdays and Sundays. You can really do all weeks shopping in one day. As a vacationer who likes to eat out, you will find no shortage of great restaurants as well.

Testimonals

I just wanted to thank you again for helping us to plan. We really had a wonderful time.We were very impressed with your country and it's people who all seemed very proud. Many people have expressed interest in going to Costa Rica and I will give them all your information when they are ready to plan! The hotels worked out very nicely. -------- Donna.

First of all I have to say the GPS was an absolute life saver. We were VERY GLAD we had it and I would recommend it to anyone driving around the country. You can use us as a reference. We enjoyed the Hotel Orquideas Inn, the accommodations were very nice, the restaurant served excellent food & a good breakfast & the staff was very friendly.

We did go to the Tree House Restaurant for my Birthday. The food was OK, the Expresso's were wonderful. I enclosed a picture of one of the cups. It was the cutest thing. They draw pictures in the foam - they did a Teddy Bear, a Dragon, a Puppy Dog & a Kitty Cat. Anyway we had a wonderful time. We really miss the delicious coffee! Hopefully we'll be able to plan another trip - maybe in your Summer. We'll let you know. -------- Robbins Family
