Puntarenas, Costa Rica

Puntarenas, or "sand point" in Spanish is at the west part of Costa Rica and stretches along for two thirds of Pacific coast. Puntarenas is the biggest province in the country with around 100,000 populations in the whole region. This region has a very relaxed feel to it and has many different beaches. This is a very popular spot with surfers as well with endless empty spots to choose from. This includes the Osa Peninsula with surf spots like the popular Pavones.

There are several refuges and National Parks those visitors to Puntarenas can go to and enjoy beauty of the province. Manuel Antonio Park is a very popular attraction and has superb beaches with white sand. People of all ages are attracted to the park as it is within a walking distance from fine restaurants and hotels.

ATV tours are very popular around the beaches of Puntarenas. Especially in the Osa Peninsula area where you can explore miles of beaches on a 4x4 ATV. There are near by National parks and islands so it's a perfect place for those who really enjoy the outdoors. This is a big area to explore and has many areas that are virtually untouched. You could drive for miles with nothing but rainforest and all of a sudden come across a restaurant on a cliff that has some of the best dinning around. This is a great area to explore with many unique hotels and lots of activities.
