San Jose, Costa Rica

The San Jose region is home of the Capital and largest city of Costa Rica. It is home to the biggest airport in Costa Rica and is most likely where travelers fly in. San Jose is among the cities that are considered to be very cosmopolitan. Here you will find anything from McDonalds to Walmart. However, the city is colorful, alive and full of local business, restaurants and café's. The population of San Jose Canton is over 365,000. It is said to have one third of the country's population.

There is so much to do in this metropolitan region. Anything from bars, museums, shopping centers, restaurants, and colorful produce markets. There is lots of night life in San Jose and clubs can go on all night. There are also plenty of taxi's that can take you to the hottest spots. So really anyone can have a great time in this city. This busy city is also surrounded by tropical rainforest and occasionally the weather will remind you of that. San Jose is at the Center of Costa Rica in Central Valley. And this makes San Jose a good place to start and end any vacation.

Down town, streets are full of people walking around due to all sorts of historical buildings and attractions. Most of the museums in the city are found in downtown San Jose. There are also plenty of hotels, transportation and companies that can arrange travel requirements. The roads in downtown do have heavy traffic at peak times. It is best to explore certain districts by walking around rather then driving. Many day trips are available to the volcano if you feel like checking that out. Arrangements to go white water rafting can also be made at most hotels in San Jose, leaving you only a small bus ride away.

Testimonals

I just wanted to thank you again for helping us to plan. We really had a wonderful time.We were very impressed with your country and it's people who all seemed very proud. Many people have expressed interest in going to Costa Rica and I will give them all your information when they are ready to plan! The hotels worked out very nicely. -------- Donna.

First of all I have to say the GPS was an absolute life saver. We were VERY GLAD we had it and I would recommend it to anyone driving around the country. You can use us as a reference. We enjoyed the Hotel Orquideas Inn, the accommodations were very nice, the restaurant served excellent food & a good breakfast & the staff was very friendly.

We did go to the Tree House Restaurant for my Birthday. The food was OK, the Expresso's were wonderful. I enclosed a picture of one of the cups. It was the cutest thing. They draw pictures in the foam - they did a Teddy Bear, a Dragon, a Puppy Dog & a Kitty Cat. Anyway we had a wonderful time. We really miss the delicious coffee! Hopefully we'll be able to plan another trip - maybe in your Summer. We'll let you know. -------- Robbins Family
